The spa at Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa in Santa Fe was recently awarded Five Stars from the Forbes Travel Guide. And it’s easy to see why. The Mediterranean-inspired, all-suite property sits on 45 lush acres of gardens, trails, and olive groves. From the breathtaking outdoor garden, to the tranquil treatment spaces, to the Serenity Yoga Pavilion, Rancho Valencia is a breathtaking wellness destination.

The outdoor elements of the 1.5-acre Spa include a Watsu therapy/massage pool, a lap pool, and private sun gardens. Indoor amenities include seven treatment rooms with private patios; five with outdoor, deep soaking tubs, and rain showers.

The Spa at Rancho Valencia offers an enhanced wellness experience in an exquisite atmosphere where the resort owners are wellness enthusiasts who can often be spotted spinning alongside, or sharing a juice with, guests.

Among recent developments is the launch of a Wellness Collective in partnership with Dr. E. Lee Rice of Lifewellness Institute in San Diego. This is a robust calendar of intimate workshops, enlightening lectures and activities based on the science of epigenetics.

The Spa also recently became on of two in the US to incorporate new Elemental Wellness spa therapies based on William H. Sheldon’s Somatotypes.

These “draw from both modern science and ancient wisdom to encourage innate healing resources with the intention of addressing imbalances to increase longevity and vitality. The treatments use bespoke blends, crafted with organic herbs and oils, nutrient-rich seaweed and clay to form a perfectly custom treatment. Essential oils act as catalysts to the marine elements, promoting nutrient absorption, detoxification, enhancing the regenerative effects, and a sense of wellbeing.”

For example:

“Wellbeing Ritual is a body wrap infused with a custom blend of minerals and algae helps to detoxify and remineralize the skin. Rancho Valencia then balances the energy with a guided meditation and facial massage.”

And,

Vitality Ritual is a stimulating therapy that begins with a dry skin brushing and cleansing wash to prepare the body for absorption. A nourishing, mineral-rich body wrap fortifies the skin while a head massage and breathing meditation relaxes the mind. Finally, slip into an aromatic bath soak to cleanse and refresh.”

The Elemental Wellness rituals are also supported by a restorative soak (30 minutes) and signature massage (60 minutes or 90 minutes).

Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa partners with Natura Bissé to offer a citrus product, drawing inspiration from the orange groves on the property.  The in-room products include Hydrating Bath Foam, Detox Body Balm, Boxed Soap, Repairing Shampoo and Smooth Conditioner, all radiating a luscious orange and tangerine scent.

Nearly 40% of millennials have either undergone a cosmetic procedure or are considering a procedure in the next 12 months. This is according to a new study by ZALEA, which states that the results illustrate “a sizeable generational shift and openness to various cosmetic treatments and procedures compared to older generations.”

The study consisted of an equal distribution of male and female respondents with 65% between the ages of 18-24 most making less than $50K annually.

“By and large, this younger millennial generation appears to express much more willingness and less preconceptions about procedures,” ZALEA Co-founder Louis Scafuri is quoted as saying, “We believe that demand for cosmetic procedures will increase in both men and women throughout the lives of this generation and it’s become considerably more socially acceptable.”

The study also found that the respondents got most of their information on the topic from Google, followed by a physician. Friends and family came in third place, and then social media influencers as sources of related information. Fortunately, the factor with the biggest impact on the actual decision to undergo a procedure was the physician. Friends and family overtake Google here, which falls to third place, followed by social media.

And once the decision to undergo a cosmetic procedure is made, survey respondents reported that their top two sources for recommendations on a provider are friends and family (75%) and a referral from another physician (65%).

The report points out the critical importance of making reliable information available if  people are going to be making decisions based on what they’re reading online.

As for which procedures millennials are most commonly having done, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Surgery, botox tops the list for non surgical procedures, while breast augmentations come in first for surgical procedures.
